Cross country

25 September 2018
Today Whakapono 21 participated in the school cross country.  The students were able to represent their Houses which are Kotare, Kakapo, Piwakawaka and Pukeko.  The year 5 children were split into boys and girls.  They then  had to run one lap around the block of our school and then back to the finish line.

I am extremely proud of all my kids effort, they gave it a go and tried their best even though at times the rain started to come down.  Our kids loved participating in cross country!  Big ups to everyone who helped make this a successful event.  Sport can make such a difference - I truly believe that!  You just never know where the love of sport may take you.  It’s not the destination but the journey that is important.  Get your kids involved in some type of sport, it will teach them life skills that will help them in life.

We are blessed to have the year 5 winners for the boys and girls both in our class.  Everton Masina took out 1st place by a mile, he was representing Kotare.   Madison Brace won the girls event and was representing Piwakawaka.  They were both so excited to take the win home.  I really hope they keep pushing themselves.  We could have the next John Walker at Rowandale School (he was a Rewa boy), you just never know.
